Tutorial 49 + 50

From this: to this:

I am not sure that this tutorial works with other pictures, I used it because it looked good with the clouds.
Ok, I took used this picture of Harry:

Crop it to your liking. I then took mine and sharpened it to 40.
I lightened the picture up just a bit and then duplicated it to Screen. I duplicated it again and set it at Soft Light, opacity at 100.
Merge your layers.
I wanted a tad more color into the picture since it is really white, so I did a Hue+Saturation:

~HUE+SATURATION~
--Master--
Saturation: 60
(that will depend on your picture)

I did it again and set the Saturation up to 100.

Next I used this texture by crimsonglass and set it at Multiply, opacity 100.


I duplicated it and desaturated the texture, setting at Soft Light, 100.
Make a new layer and add the color #020829 and set it at Exclusion (screen, screen, subtract for GIMPers), 100.
I next added another layer and this light blue color: #b4ddff setting it at Soft Light, 100.
Duplicate it to Burn, 100 (opacity will always depend on your picture).
Now I think it looks too bluish, so I added one new layer and this color, #e4ff00 setting it at Burn, 20.
Merged the layers and did one last Hue+Saturation:

Saturation: 60
(that will depend on your picture)

And that is it! :)

I took used this poster of the Trio:

I cropped it to where only Hermione's face was showing. Crop yours the way you would like it. :)
I smoothed out her face with the Tear Drop tool and then sharpened the picture up to 40.
Hermione's face looks somewhat devoid of color, so I added some red to her picture. You can do that by using Levels or Curves. :) I didn't add too much because I did not want the red to overpower the picture.
Duplicate your base twice and set the first to Screen. As always, the opacity will depend on your picture, for mine, I put mine at 20.
For the second layer, set it at Soft Light, 100 (again, opacity will depend on your liking).


Merge.
Now, I'm not sure what I did next, so I had to fiddle around. The color I was aiming for was yellowish. I got this:

I used the Channel Mixer and Color Balance:

~CHANNEL MIXER~
Red: 160, -69, -10
Green: -10, 100, 0
Blue: -60, 60, 50
(preserve luminosity on)

~COLOR BALANCE~
Midtones: 0, 15, -20
(preserve luminosity off)
(if you don't have Color Balance, try using Levels. :)


Duplicate your base. I used another Channel Mixer:

~CHANNEL MIXER~
Red: 180, -60, -10
Green: 0, 100, 0
Blue: -60, 60, 60
(preserve luminosity on)

set it at Soft Light, 100.
Merge all the layers.

~COLOR BALANCE~
Midtones: -25, -10, 40
(preserve luminosity on)

(and for those who don't have Color balance:
~LEVELS~
--Red--
Input: 0, 1, 250
--Green--
Input: 10, 1, 255
--Blue--
Input: 0, 1, 240
Output: 20, 255)


Whew! Almost done! :D You could stop there if you like.
I made three new layers. For the first layer, I added the color #01011b and set it at Exclusion (screen, screen, subtract for GIMPers), 100.
For the second layer, add a dark purple: #d08cca and set it at Burn, 40
Third layer: add a light pink: #fde1f0 and set it at Soft Light, 40.
I added a grey texture and set it at Multiply and duplicated it once.
Merge all layers.


Duplicate the merged layers and again, I used Channel Mixer:

~CHANNEL MIXER~
Red: 180, -60, -10
Green: 0, 100, 0
Blue: -60, 60, 60
(preserve luminosity on)
set that layer at Lighten Only, 20.
And that is it!
